Windows

I bought these windows a couple of weeks ago. They were a dark wood and I looked at them for a while and decided they just blended into the wall. I did a dry brush of white and tan. Now I like them much better. I added the cross to the middle an after though.

New Find

While visiting my local Goodwill, I came accross a cloth doll with a beautiful white dress. It was justs calling to me. The doll needed work but the dress was perfect. I took the dress and cleaned it and found a new home for it. It makes me smile when I look at it.

 

 

                                                

 

 



I painted an old angel planter that I had white. It was white with gold touches from back in the day.

I added a rose flower arrangement that I had. I put green foam around the vase and added a doilie, flowers and two sweet birds.

Now it lives in my dinning room corner.

Gold Bling

This weekend I was visiting one of my favorite little spots, when I saw these lovely shoes. I was first drawn to the black ornate frames. At a closer look they were gold shoes. I began to think of a home for these and I knew where they should go. Looking at the price they were half price. Score!

Quick Redo

 

This is an extra dinning room chair. I use it at my desk.

 

 

I am working to add white to my studio area. I was trying to come up with some way to help the chair blend in. I found a white and lace pillow sham. I thought I could add this to the back.

 

 

 

I put it on and added na off- white burlap bow!  It was a quick redo and didn't cost anything.



Little Birdie

I found this coffee pot yesterday and fell in love. It was on of those things that spoke to me. I added it to my breakfast area. I worked on several different looks but decided on this. If you look closely, there is a bird inside on her nest. I am going to look for some small eggs next.



Suggestions?

 

I found this great bowl last Saturday while out junking. It is metal and I gave only  $4.00. It was half price. I thought it would be great for a fruit bowl, but it is to big for the area. I know some of you wonderful ladies would have a suggestion for another use. What do you think? I could put it any place. I just need an idea.



WOW

 

 

This lovely piece now hangs over my bed. I love it! It replaced a white ceiling fan that we didn't use. I could lay in bed and just look at it. I think I need more. Smile!

Burlap and Lace

I made this pillow from a tow sack. It was so easy. I purchased a large tow sack from the Vintage Rose and cut it in half. With just a little sewing and some lace, here it is. I still have the other piece to create another. Quick and easy the way I like it.



New Finds

 





I visited one of my favortie places on Friday. The Vintage Rose is a small gift shop open on the weekends. I always find a treat or two when I go. 

Sweet!

Don't you just love it? As I was helping my friend fix-up her beautiful home, I saw it. Fell in love with it. I gave it the necklace that I was wearing. Is it not a perfect match. Smile!



A Friends New House

This is my friends new house. It is the A.W. Henson House. Built in the late 1800's. It has survived a tornado in the 50's and I am sure much more. She has a lot of work to do but it will be just beautiful when complete. We had a great day yesterday touring and making plans. We even thought we might have heard a ghost in the up stairs pink room. You should have seen our faces. It turned out to be a chicken that lives in town. Yes, in a small town. Her neighbors just feed them and they wonder around.

This is one of my favorite places in my home. It is just inside by front door. It is a great place to take a load off. Almost each item has a story and I can remember when I found them. It is a great place to give a final check before heading out the door.







White Fever

 

 

This is a piece that has been in my dinning room for some time. It was originally gold, but when I caught the "white fever" I decided that it needed an update. With a little white paint and some bling, it is wonderful again. 



Pincushion

 

I was at home yesterday because of a Snow day. After viewing some different blogs, I became inspired and started making pincushions from items that I already had. One was made from an old sugar bowl and the other from a metal jewelry box. They are very useful and pretty too.

This is one of my favorite pieces. I have used it in so many ways and different places in my home. I need to purchase some more. Do you have a piece that you use over and over?

 

 



Got To Love a Snow day

You have to love unexpected snow! I am a teacher and I don't know who was more excited the kids or the teachers to get out early today. I think it may have been the teachers. This was taken from my home's back window.

I found these cut wings at an after Christmas sell for $1.40. I moved a few things and added the wings.

I found these two little cuties at a shop at 75% off after Christmas. They were only a dollar. Loving things that are white, I thought these would be great for Valentine's day. They may get to stay out year round.      XOXO 

Something Different

 

Christmas is over! Time to change some areas of the house. Do you ever look around and want to change things up? I do it a lot. I will look at other blogs or Pinterest for inspiration. Lace, Lace and More Lace

As I was looking at other blogs, I saw how to create a table runner by over laying your lace pieces. I dug in my treasure box and put together this runner. I love it!. You just hand stitch these together on the back. Coffee

I love my coffee in the morning. Really I can drink coffee almost anytime. After coming home from my last visit to a Bed and Breakfast, I put together my small coffee bar. It has all the things I need to make a perfect cup of coffee. Every time I see it I smile. It makes me happy.

                                                                          

Sewing Caddy

Here is my new sewing caddy.  I looked into my lace box to find just the right pieces to create it. I used a mix of old and new materials. I love white and off white. The pictures doesn't show all of the detail from the vintage linens.  There is a lot of detail and texture in this piece.

 

 

 

                                                                            

Treasures

Here are some of my hidden treasures that I had in a box. I took an old shutter and decided to display them so that I can see them everyday. Now it is ready to add to my studio.

Hand Embroidery

I found some of the cutest quilted Christmas ornaments at a little shop near my home. I have not hand embroidered in a while. It was so much fun and turned out beautiful. I am going back to get more. I am getting a jump on Christmas next year. Yes!  The best part they were 50% off.
 

Back to the Real World

I spent the day at  teacher in-service. I think I could get use to staying home and creating things. I  been have working on my studio/My Creative Space. Here is the start. I have big plans.

                                                                          

My Last Day

This is my last day of my Christmas break for this school year. Tomorrow it is back to teachers meetings. I have loved my time off. It snowed on Christmas which I can't remember it ever doing. I had great food with family. Most important everyone was healthy and together. It was a great Christmas! I am truly blessed!  With coffee in hand I am trying to decide what to do today???? Something fun!

New Year

I had a nice time today visiting with my mom and sister. We looked through my Nanny's buttons. Though she has been gone for  while we still have pieces for her such as her buttons still on the cards. I have spent many hours looking through her button box as a child. I would also go to town with her and spend time looking for cards of buttons that matched. Good Times!
